Cottage Pie (bake at home )

Cottage pie is the ultimate savoury comfort food, so go on, treat yourself to seasoned beef topped with buttery mash potato and three cheese.

Baking your pie  to perfection

  1. Defrost the pie   in the fridge for a maximum of 24 hours or defrost on the kitchen counter for a couple of hours.
  2.  Preheat the oven to 190°C, remove the white paper-lid of the pie  and cover the pie with grease proof paper
  3. Bake fan force for around 25 - 30  minutes.
  4. Uncover it and continue  baking for another 10  minutes until the cheese is a nice golden colour.
  5. The pie should be piping hot in the centre. Check by inserting a metal skewer or knife into the centre for 15 seconds  -if the tip is too hot to touch when removed, it is ready!  You can also use a thermometer to see if it is 72°C in the centre.
  6. Let it rest 5 minutes on the cooling tray before you serve. Bon appetit!

Baking From Frozen: Place the pie in the oven (covered as above) while the oven is heating up. Add 10 extra minutes to  cooking time.

Always a winner

We have ordered this dish before, and it is always a winner. It is tasty and filling. Will definitely keep ordering so that there is always one in the freezer for a rainy day..

Cottage pie just like mum used to bake, the best.

Those days when you don’t have the time or energy to prepare a meal, cottage pie just like mum used to bake, the best on a cool night, all fresh ingredients, the best.

Home made tasty

I order these for my elderly diabetic mother. She loves that these are healthy and contain vegetables. Good to keep in her freezer for when she doesn't feel like cooking. A nice easy healthy meal!

Yummy cottage pie

We had this cottage pie with a side salad and the whole family loved it. I have decided to include it on a regular basis as a mid week meal. It tastes better and is better value than takeaway and all you have to do is heat it!
